FireFox 3.0.10 Crashes with Java Update

Fire­Fox and Java appar­ently have code so inter­re­lated that the lat­est Java update has Fire­Fox crash­ing. Using ver­sion 3.0.10 of Fire­Fox, my com­puter kept report­ing a crit­i­cal error and Fire­Fox wouldn’t even start! I had to resort to Inter­net Explorer to get every­thing fixed. Here’s what we did.

First, I found a great arti­cle on The Chan­nel Wire that con­firms the error and indi­cated there is an update to fix the Fire­Fox prob­lem.  The fix is sim­ple.  Pro­ceed to the Mozilla web site and down­load the cur­rent update for Fire­Fox.  As of this writ­ing, the update is for Fire­Fox ver­sion 3.0.11.

Down­load the update via another web browser and run the instal­la­tion.  It will not over­write your book­marks and other set­tings.  After the instal­la­tion fin­ishes, you should be able to run Fire­Fox with no problems.

NOTE:  I posted this arti­cle in the new ver­sion of Fire­Fox, so my machine works now.
