FireFox and Java apparently have code so interrelated that the latest Java update has FireFox crashing. Using version 3.0.10 of FireFox, my computer kept reporting a critical error and FireFox wouldn’t even start! I had to resort to Internet Explorer to get everything fixed. Here’s what we did.
First, I found a great article on The Channel Wire that confirms the error and indicated there is an update to fix the FireFox problem. The fix is simple. Proceed to the Mozilla web site and download the current update for FireFox. As of this writing, the update is for FireFox version 3.0.11.
Download the update via another web browser and run the installation. It will not overwrite your bookmarks and other settings. After the installation finishes, you should be able to run FireFox with no problems.
NOTE: I posted this article in the new version of FireFox, so my machine works now.
