Penalties From Using Tax Software

A frequent question we are asked is “Why can’t I do my own taxes on Turbo Tax® or Tax Cut® software?”  We came across a Tax Court case in which an individual was assessed a 20% penalty even though she used tax software to prepare her taxes.  The individual argued she should not have … → Read More: Penalties From Using Tax Software

Keeping the Helm On Course

As an entrepreneur, you daily wear more hats than the average person does in a lifetime.  If you are successful, then you can juggle the different directions and still maintain the course for your company.  You also know the value of a good team to help you keep that course.

ETools Tickmark Toolbar Corrupted

Ok, so this doesn’t really apply to small business.  However it does apply to small CPA firms!

PPC Thomson Reuters has a product called ETools which basically uses Excel and Word to help maintain engagements by providing a large number of worksheets and documents ready to use.  They also have a well thought out set of tickmarks available to use in these or your own documents.  The tickmarks are used in a toolbar for each office program.  Occasionally the toolbar gets corrupted and only a few tickmarks show.   Here’s how to fix it!  » Read more about ETools Tickmark Toolbar Corrupted »
